Christmas Lite-up 2016
Photos by Richard McGuire from the Osoyoos Times.
In 1989 the first Winter Fair (formerly called the International Fair) then changed a few years later to Christmas Lite-up, was organized by the Osoyoos and District Chamber of Commerce.
Through the volunteer membership of the Osoyoos Festival Society coordinating the program with the Town of Osoyoos, local merchants, Community Organizations and Church groups, this event is held in the first weekend in December. 2016 is our 28th Anniversary!!
Friday morning in coordination with the Smitty’s Restaurant and the Kiwanis Club since 1995 have been organizing the Toys for Tots program wherein a donation of a new toy or a monetary donation you will receive a free breakfast. Main Street Osoyoos is beautifully decorated for the festive season and the local merchants open up their doors to spread the joy!!. For supper, munch on a hot dog and warm up with a cup of hot chocolate. At 6:30 p.m. is the parade heading down Main Street, with beautifully lighted floats to awe the spectators as we announce the official arrival of Santa and Mrs Claus. The following day there will be the Kiwanis Craft Sale where Artisans offer everyone a chance to view and purchase their wonderful and artistic wares. There is so much in our Community going on December 2nd and 3rd, 2016 you don’t want to miss a thing!!
We acknowledge the funding assistance from the Province of British Columbia, the Government of Canada and the Town of Osoyoos.
